AiR: Oliver Godow
Oliver Godow
Artist in Residence
Jan - Jul 2014
The Royal London Hospital
Berlin-based artist, Oliver Godow creates abstract photographs from daily detritus. Views through empty shops, discarded boxes, broken furniture or ripped posters that reveal layers of colours are the subjects of Godow’s images, which, in his hands, take on a Modernist aesthetic. During his six-month residency at The Royal London Hospital, Godow will focus on Whitechapel High Street, and bring to our attention accidental passage of overlooked beauty in this changing neighbourhood.
Godow is a graduate of Glasgow’s MFA programme. In London, his work has been exhibited at the Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA ), Camden Arts Centre and at the Photographers’ Gallery.
