Exhibition: Make Do and Draw

Buildings Tell Stories

Make Do and Draw
Sept – Nov 2012
The Royal London Hospital Gallery

To mark the Royal London’s move to its new building, Vital Arts are pleased to present this exhibition of models of some of the iconic buildings of the old hospital by art and architecture practice Make Do & Draw. Included are maps and photographs from the Trust’s archives representing various periods of the hospital’s long history.

Buildings Tell Stories began with a workshop for staff and visitors during the Vital Arts Festival in March 2012 to celebrate the launch of the new hospital. This event is captured here in photographs by Bethany Heggarty.

Make Do & Draw were then commissioned by Vital Arts to create a permanent commission for the hospital building. These wooden sculptures were exhibited in the Vital Arts Gallery at the Royal London Hospital, and later on display on the 10th floor of the New Royal London.
