AiR: Dr Keir Philip
Keir Philip
Artist in Residence
Jun - Dec 2016
The Royal London Hospital
Keir worked as a dancer for many years, teaching and performing throughout the UK and abroad, including international tours, music videos and festivals such as Glastonbury. He is now a doctor, currently working at Barts Health NHS Trust, recently having worked for two years in sub-Saharan Africa.
His interests lie in holistic, assets-based approaches to healing and rehabilitation, and, in particular, the development of dance-based rehabilitation activities for patients. As well as being the dancer in residence for Vital Arts and full time doctor, Keir is also founder of the DanceAble Collective, a UCL Partner Improvement Fellow, and an honorary Research Fellow at the UCL Institute for Health and Human Performance.
Keir took part in TEDx Imperial College on the 13th May 2017. The theme was ‘Blueprints’ and Keir’s talk was based on his experiences delivering dance-based rehabilitation to patients with Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis in rural South Africa, and to older people with hip fractures in London.
