Margaret Proudfoot

Margaret Proudfoot donated these two artworks to #100NHSRooms after creating them specifically for staff spaces. She says of the works: ‘They were made during the imposed seclusion of the first 2020 Covid19 Lockdown when both the season and the weather mitigated some of the isolation. These pieces developed an existing fascination with boundaries, borders, and the linear qualities of wire. Always envisaged for healthcare sites they employ the meditative processes of cutting, of both block and paper. The seasonal optimism of new shoots gives an ambiguous glimpse of a way ahead. The uncertainly implied by further growth seems nearer to our shared experience since these were made. Smaller proofs were made and sent to friends, family and colleagues during time on furlough’
